The Memphis restaurant industry and the city in general mourn one of our brightest lights. Thomas Boggs, CEO of Huey's restaurants, died in May. He joined Huey's as manager and bartender in 1975 and within two years became co-owner. Boggs was also a partner in Tsunami, Folk's Folly, The Half Shell, and other eateries. He served as a mentor and supporter to restaurateurs, entrepreneurs, and countless people in need. We extend our sympathy to his family and many friends.
Assaggio, the Italian restaurant at 8100 Macon Road in Cordova, has closed. To the north near Wolfchase Galleria, Longhorn Steakhouse is planning to open a location at 8324 Stage Rd., where Smokey Bones restaurant had operated.
In downtown Memphis, after many months of delays, The Blue Monkey has reopened at 513 South Front Street, just a bit farther north than its original location.
