Contemporary Media, Inc., a locally owned, independent publishing company, produces forward-thinking and sophisticated content across our print and digital products: Memphis Magazine, The Memphis Flyer, Memphis Parent, and custom books and magazines for an array of local clients. We also produce a suite of popular and successful ticketed events. We are searching for an account executive to join our elite group of sales team members.
Division: Media Sales
Position Type: Full-time
Contemporary Media is seeking a proactive, energetic advertising sales account executive. The
successful candidate will be resourceful, independent, competitive, and organized individual.
Responsibilities:
Manage the sales process for a book of business, from incoming lead and/or initial contact to
closing the deal
Understand and develop customer needs and opportunities regarding print media, digital media,
and event sponsorships
Present and articulate the value of Contemporary Media’s offerings
Ability to close sales in a competitive environment
Requirements:
Minimum of 2-3 years in sales (ideally media sales, but other sales backgrounds will be
considered)
Strong sales and presentation skills with a proven track record
Ability to develop key client and agency relationships
Connections within the Memphis business community (and enthusiasm to develop more)
Highly motivated with a serious work ethic
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Compensation: Commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will receive base pay
for the initial 6 months of employment, followed by a transition to commission structure.
