Kelly English, the much-loved chef of Restaurant Iris in Midtown, has announced a new partnership with Harrah’s St. Louis Casino & Hotel: Kelly English Steakhouse. The steakhouse with French-Creole influences is expected to open later this year.
English announced the partnership Tuesday on Facebook, and here’s some of what the press release said: “I look forward to the opportunity to grow as a chef and restaurateur, and I am thrilled that I will now be able to bring a little bit of Memphis to St. Louis with this opportunity.
“While this opportunity will require attention and time, because it too, needs to succeed, I am still deeply committed to Memphis and Restaurant Iris. I will continue to have a dedicated presence at Restaurant Iris — you guys can't get rid of me!”
English has won numerous accolades since opening Restaurant Iris in 2008, including being named a best new chef in 2009 by Food & Wine magazine. Iris also is a favorite among Memphis magazine readers. In our most recent restaurant poll, Restaurant Iris won best restaurant, best chef, best service, and best wine list.
