Memphis Fashion Weekend starts next Thursday, April 4th, at Alchemy with an industry and VIP Preview Party. Designers, models, and other glitterati will be taking in the creations of several wildly talented local designers. Unique to today's blog is a list of giveaways from a few participating designers from this year's special weekend. Blog Readers — now's your chance to have your own special piece from MFW13. Items to be given away will be chosen by the creators. Leave a comment below for a chance to win and we'll randomly choose winners for these highly coveted items from Elly Dehlye Handbags, Lauren Carlson's Question The Answer jewelry line, Brave Design, Mo's Bows, and Hoop City. Special note: Hoop City is not a participating designer of MFW13, but the t-shirts are just too cool NOT to include AND it's almost time for the NBA Play-Offs, so there.
Question the Answer jewelry by Lauren Carlson is all about pretty little things that are desirable to women with a keen sense of humor and a certain je ne sais quoi. This necklace inspired by Mexico's Day of the Dead is handcrafted of wood, gold chain, and druzy crystals. Freeze models will be wearing these pieces at Thursday's Preview Party.
Mary Taylor and Mimi Danosky are the wonder twin power duo behind Brave Design and they will be showing their goods on Saturday. This is an example of one of their trademark pieces, the Medicine Necklace.
Mo's Bows creator and CEO, 11-year-old Moziah Bridges, makes these divine bowties from vintage fabrics and was taught to sew by his grandmother. Don't think these are just for the guys — girls can wear these too, for a chic and unexpected accessory. These bows will be shown off at the Preview Party.
The Grizz have secured a spot in the playoffs so it's time to upgrade your Hoop City t-shirt collection. Leslie Skelton and Ian Lemmonds have several new designs including this one. Look for these t-shirts all over the Grindhouse.
Leave a comment and we'll pick winners and connect everyone that needs connecting. We'll cut off for entries on Wednesday April 3rd at noon, and notify all winners by Thursday morning, April 4th. Most importantly, support Memphis Fashion Weekend (and Memphis in general) by investing in these local goods that keep all of us Looking Good in Memphis.
