Downtown continues to be the hub of new restaurants. Next up is Circa, a French/Mediterranean fine-dining restaurant with a hefty wine list opening at 119 South Main by John Bragg, formerly of River Oaks.
Meditrina, the Mediterranean eatery that had operated at 83 Union, has closed.
At the new Westin Hotel downtown, Penny McGraw is executive chef while Spence McMillan will be chef at the Daily Grill, the hotel's signature restaurant. McGraw was most recently at McEwen's on Monroe, while McMillan most recently cooked at Grill 901 restaurant in Collierville. At The Peabody, Brian Burrow has been named chef de cuisine for Capriccio Grill. He has worked primarily in south Florida.
Branching out from downtown is Wendell Price, owner of Wendell's World Beat Grill on South Main. He is opening Wendell's 24/7 at the Artisan Hotel at McLean and Union in Midtown. Further east, an Olive Garden restaurant and Starbucks are part of the Poplar Pointe development at Poplar and I-240.
