Yes, it’s chilly and little cold outside, and it could rain. But don’t let weather keep you away from the downtown Memphis Farmers Market on Saturday located in the covered pavillion behind Central Train Station.
The downtown market’s annual holiday bazaar starts at 10 a.m. and continues until 2 o’clock, offering a delicious and locally-sourced assortment of crafts, food gifts, body care products, and farm-fresh produce. Vendors will include handmade chocolates and macaroons from Pistache, truffles from Comfit, pimento cheese from Tom's Tiny Kitchen, and gifts and goodies from the Apothecary Fairy, Dubach & Gardo Pottery, Re-Hy Bottle, and Studio 1688.
Food vendors will include many market regulars, including Whitton Farm, Newman Farm, Paradise Seafood, Mcmak Farms, Delta Grind, Jones Orchard, Earth Sprung Grain, and Dodson Farms. (Check out the photo to the left of Dodson’s beautiful heirloom lettuces.)
Who needs Macy’s, right?
Equally exciting (at least for me) will be the opportunity to purchase my recently released book, “The Food Lovers’ Guide to Memphis,” a lively and informative compendium of independent restaurants, local purveyors and specialty food markets. I’ve been working on my signature, and will be happy to sign copies.
