Here’s the official rap: Tickets go on sale Friday morning at 10 a.m. for Anthony Bourdain's Guts and Glory tour, which is coming to the Orpheum on November 2. Now here’s the insider buzz: You can buy your tickets right now by going to Ticketmaster and entering the not-so-secret code: TONY. Or you can call 800-745-3000, and you’ll probably need the same password.
Tickets range in price from $45 to $55, according to the press release from Innovation Arts & Entertainment. The likeable host of the Travel Channel's "No Reservations," Bourdain hardly needs any further explanation, especially if you are still reading this post. Personally, I’m a big fan because Bourdain is sexy and irreverent. And he knows his food. I wish he was still as irreverent as he used to be, but hey. Two out of three ain’t bad.
Here’s another reason I love Bourdain. He’s a comic geek. Last month, he released a culinary-themed graphic novel about a sushi-chef super-hero called Get Jiro! I have a heartfelt love for young cartoonists, so I appreciated Bourdain’s embrace of the graphic novel format.
Now back to those tickets. I just bought three $55 tickets, and it cost $197. (Ticketmaster tacked on more than $30 in fees. I hate that.) Anyway, if you're a bigger spender, you can purchase VIP tickets for the best seats, a limited edition tour poster and participation in a post-show meet-and-greet reception with Bourdain featuring complimentary hors d’oeuvres from the Majestic Grille and beer from Ghost River.
