Autumn brings the welcome return of intense jewel-toned colors. Hues are saturated and paired with neutrals or another striking shade. The neon brights of spring have faded into moodier tones that are romantic, strong, and feminine. New School Media is a hidden gem nestled in East Memphis. Its “grandmother retro” nostalgia lent itself to our shoot perfectly. On the following pages we show you how to wear this season’s color trend with styling that won’t leave you in the dark.
On Air
Dyed furs both real and faux are a major trend. Yellow dyed knitted fox jacket, $2,570, The Fur Vault, Macy’s Oak Court. Sequin top by Haute Hippie, $495, from Oak Hall.
She’s Got the Beat
Animal prints are still in the mix and look very luxe with faux leather leggings. Printed tunic wrap top by What Goes Around Comes Around, $355; M Missoni faux leather leggings, $245; agate slice necklace by Brave Design, $295; all from James Davis. Gold bracelet with black and deep purple crushed crystals from Coming Attractions, $356.
Mix It Up
This textured top takes control of the look. Feathery blouse, $125; banded necklace, $120; both from Coming Attractions. Bordeaux velvet jeans by J Brand, $195, from Oak Hall. Hammered silver cuffs, $22 each, from TurKoyz. Glitter pumps by Dolce Vita, $80, from Southern Couture.
Rewind & Play
The sleeve detail gives an otherwise neutral top an arm above the rest. Top by Haute Hippie, $345; hunter green cropped denim by MIH, $198; both from Oak Hall. Crushed garnet colored crystal drop earrings, $178, from Coming Attractions. Icelandic fringe ankle boots with open toes, $139, from Nine West in Oak Court Mall.
Dream Girl
Black lace is always elegant but it looks new with a statement bag and fantasy ankle boots. Dress by Malene Birger, $495; suede and ruffle ankle boots by Nicholas Atwood, $995; runway purse by Prada, $2,280; silver wire wrap cuff, $185; sterling cuff with brass detail, $915; silver earrings, $85. All from Joseph.
