Perhaps 2012 will become one of those transformative years in the medical industry, a year we look back on — for good or ill — and point to the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act as a new standard for insuring Americans’ health. Whether the concept of an “individual mandate” makes you see red, you can be glad Memphis has resources for virtually every ailment. From large, multipurpose hospitals to smaller specialty clinics for cancer, heart disease, and diabetes, the Bluff City cares for the people of this region from head to toe. Consider it a form of local health insurance, one with unanimous approval.
