Charles McVean, commodities broker and racing promoter, accused of attempting to bribe a state senator to vote for a 1987 pari-mutuel gambling bill. Case went to trial in 1990. Jury deadlocked. Case dismissed.
Michael Mullins, FedEx pilot charged in 1991 with killing his wife, Holly Mullins, and burning her body in a van. Case went to trial in 1994. Mullins acquitted.
Jeremy Hunt, University of Memphis basketball player charged in 2005 for assault with bodily harm of former girlfriend Tamika Rogers. Case was heard in late February. If Hunt meets conditions of pretrial diversion agreement, case will be dismissed on February 27, 2007.
Barry Myers, a Democratic political operative turned "bag man," charged in the 2005 Tennessee Waltz case with delivering bribes to then-lawmakers Kathryn Bowers and Roscoe Dixon. Pled guilty in 2006.
Hank Williams Jr., country music star charged with assault of waitress Holly Hornbeak at The Peabody in March 2006. Case sent to grand jury in September.
Logan Young III, detained and questioned after his father Logan Young Jr. -- an Alabama football booster convicted of bribery, racketeering, and money laundering -- was found dead at his home in April 2006. The death was later ruled an accident. (Convictions against the elder Young were also dropped because he died before his appeal was heard.)
Montrel Javon Gilliam, charged in June 2006 with first-degree murder of 11-year-old Martez Henderson, and three counts of attempted first-degree murder. Allegedly shot at a passing car and the gunfire killed Martez and injured his 4-year-old cousin. At this writing, indictment pending.
