If you happen to notice a large group of people running all over the downtown area Saturday, they will be responding to clues about a hidden diamond ring. About 300 treasure hunters are expected to meet at Handy Park at 10 a.m. for the Reeds Jewelers Diamond Dash.
Participants will receive text messages hinting where the $13,000 prize is hiding. The scavenger hunt will take about two hours until an awards ceremony at the park at 1. Participants pre-registered to be part of the action either as Reeds customers or by responding to TV, radio, and newspaper ads. They also had to write essays about why they want the ring.
