Collage Dance Collective will present “Deeply Rooted” on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 7, at 2:30 p.m., at the Buckman Performing and Fine Arts Center.
Collage Dance Collective was founded in 2004 in New York City, the dance capital of the world, and relocated to Memphis in 2007 to inspire the growth of ballet.
“Deeply Rooted” features the choreography of Tiffany Glenn, one of the studio’s founding members. Glenn lost a six-year battle with breast cancer in June 2012. To honor the choreographer and Director of Dancer Development, Collage launched the Tiffany Glenn Memorial Scholarship.
“We will be sharing audience favorites that have helped shape the company’s reputation for excellent classical technique, powerful dynamism and a repertoire that balances innovation and tradition,” said Artistic Director, Kevin Thomas.
The choreographic works of Kevin Iega Jeff will also be presented in the concert. Jeff is one of The Juilliard School’s 100 Outstanding Alumni and serves as Artistic Director of Chicago’s Deeply Rooted Productions. On and off-screen productions that feature his work include Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It and The Wiz
Tickets are $25 and may be purchased from the company’s website—www.collagedance.org.
