Aisling Cordon Maki
Freelance writer Aisling Cordon Maki has made Memphis home since 2002. Her articles have appeared in print and online publications, including Memphis Parent , Yahoo! World News, and the Mail & Guardian Online. She attributes her lifelong love affair with storytelling to her rural Northwest Irish roots and her family's favorite pastime, spinning a yarn. Aisling won her first writing competition in grade school from the Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport for an essay titled What Mary Means to Me . While an undergraduate at the University of Connecticut, she won the Fiction Award for her short story Evangeline , published in the Spring 2000 issue of Myriads literary journal. Aisling lives in Midtown with her husband, Amos, one friendly dog, and several feline friends. She is currently working on a collection of stories, and is honored to be grand-prize winner of this year's Memphis Magazine Fiction Contest.
Ana Bagayan
Illustrator Ana Bagayan was born in Armenia and moved to the United States when she was six years old. In Burbank, California, she frolicked amongst tall grass and dancing bears until she entered Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. Ana's work has been featured in such publications as Rolling Stone, Spin, and GQ . She lives in Burbank with two Chihuahuas.
David Hollenbach
David Hollenbach is a native of Salisbury, Maryland. He received his BFA from Pratt institute in 1998. His work has appeared in Communication Arts Illustration Annual and American Illustration . David received a silver medal from the Society of Illustrators and has been a fairly lucky blackjack table novice in Atlantic City. He currently resides in Queens.
Tim Sampson
Tim Sampson is the media and marketing manager for Soulsville, the founding editor of The Memphis Flyer , and a former editor of Memphis. He has been a freelance journalist for 20 years, and has written for such publications as the Boston Herald , Time, and The New York Times . He is the author of the book All Mimes Must Die , and has won numerous journalism awards.
Andrea Zucker
Andrea Zucker, a Memphian since 1998, has been exclusively photographing Isaac Hayes since 2000. They first met during a Vanity Fair photo shoot commemorating the Stax Museum and Academy opening. In addition to Hayes, she has photographed Memphis artists such as Al Green, Mavis Staples, Booker T. and the MGs, Mable John, Jim Dickinson, The Temprees, Jean Knight, and Ann Peebles, among others.
