WHAT'S GOING ON- Dr. Brian Sorrentino, a pioneer in gene therapy treatment who worked at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, died on Nov. 16 at age 60. He was an acclaimed researcher and earned an Innovator of the Year award in 2017 from Inside Memphis Business. His work has given hope to children who suffer from the rare "bubble boy" autoimmune disease. For more info, go here.- Co-developers Confluent Senior Living and Harbor Retirement Associates (HRA) will begin construction on a new 158,083-square-foot senior living community in Cordova. HarborChase of Cordova will deliver 144 apartments for area seniors and is planned to open in the first quarter of 2020. The project is partnership’s second development in east Memphis, with its HarborChase of Germantown project anticipated to open in summer 2019. HarborChase of Cordova is a three-story development that will provide 60 independent living, 50 assisted living and 34 memory care apartments in a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units.- Midtown Cabinetry & Millwork has opened at 54 Flicker Street in midtown Memphis, offering high-end custom cabinetry and woodwork to homeowners, builders, designers, architects, and decorators. The 16,000-square-foot facility is run by general manager Ron Scott, who had his own cabinet shop in Collierville for more than fifteen years.
