This band is making waves in Memphis . . . strange waves.
A live performance proves that Strange Wave Connection's sound can't be neatly folded into a specific genre. The six-member group's collection of songs spans from soft and melodic to vibrant and danceable, capturing at once a range of styles. Bleeding guitars and twinkling keyboards sometimes shift seamlessly from psychedelic rock to head-bobbing pop.
One might be inclined to define them as alternative or indie, but the ensemble manages to embrace moments of folk-like balladry and occasional vibes of circus music while keeping to memorable, easy-to-listen-to tunes.
Catch them tonight (Tuesday, June 21st) at Lafayette's Music Room. Show starts at 8 p.m.
Other upcoming shows include:
Hi-Tone: Friday, June 24th (CD release party)
