The 2014 Freedom Awards Ceremony was held at the Cannon Center for the Performing Arts, where awards were given to four prominent recipients: civil-rights activist Robert Parris Moses, journalist Charlayne Hunter-Gault, baseball Hall of Famer Frank Robinson, and career broadcaster Tom Brokaw. Earlier in the day, the public forum for students/media conference was held at the Temple of Deliverance on G.E. Patterson. At that time the four distinguished Freedom Award honorees spoke to the gathering, and three area students — Nicholas “Cole” Perry, Katlyn Bryant, and Dellarontay Readus — were honored with a Keeper of the Dream Award sponsored by International Paper.
