Need an adorable and edible valentine? Head east on Poplar past Perkins and think pink.
You can’t miss the new retail store for Whimsy Cookie Co. because the brick bungalow is painted bubble gum pink. The store opened Tuesday, relocating from its former location in Germantown.
I stopped in over the weekend and met founder and co-owner Laurie Suriff, who has had her eye on the former Gift and Art Shop for quite some time. “I knew this would be the perfect location for us,” she explained. “We wanted to be in East Memphis, and we had outgrown our space.”
With 5,000 square feet, the bungalow offers sufficient room for baking and decorating the company’s charming sugar cookies and chocolate dipped Oreos, along with retail sales and consultations for special orders. And the cheerful pink exterior continues inside.
“I have two boys,” said Suriff, who operates the business with co-owner Collins Tuohy. “I guess this is the girl in me.”
