Tuesday night, April 15th, 2014, Gwen Driscoll, along with other high stylin’ ladies Carmen Bond, Lucia Heros, JJ Keras, Baylor Stovall, and Anna Wunderlich, hosted New Orleans dame Jane Scott Hodges as she signed copies of her new book, Linens: For Every Room and Occasion, at Driscoll Design & Decoration on Perkins Rd. The event was a design-gasm full of creative people, color bursts everywhere, and Richter scale energy abounding within the walls of Gwen’s store.

Pictured here in this spectacular lady sandwich are Brave Design co-creator Mary Seay Taylor, New Orleans artist Ashley Longshore and co-hostess Lucia Heros. Behind these lovely ladies is one of Ashley’s vivid paintings. Her work and personality are positively exquisite.
Another of Ashley Longshore’s pieces ... they remind me of the classic fashion images shot by my favorite, Richard Avedon. His photos were mostly in black and white and these photos follow similar composition and complexity, but are infused with radiant color. Just gorgeous.
Another lady who understands color in the most hypnotic way is Gwen Driscoll. Her retail shop is like going down a fabled rabbit hole and discovering a world of almost neon but never garish brightness and always engaging. Total head trip in a good way.
Photographer Andrea Zucker knocked me out with her cobalt jacket and smashing sunglasses. They were her mother’s and straight from the 80’s ... too much fab going on right here. Her high quality, professional shots of this event will be featured in the June issue of Memphis magazine. Be on the lookout for it!
Here we go again ... Raquel Carls, Anna Wunderlich, Mary Seay Taylor (with her Spring '14 Gucci Fringe purse), Donna Van Hoozer, and Lucia Heros. I wish I could bottle them up and carry them in my back pocket at all times.
And this divine gentleman had the champagne all dressed up and ready to go.
The signature blueberry drink of the evening, the Leontini, named after Jane Scott Hodges’ line, Leontine Linens. And there I am taste testing ... the Leontini matched my vintage Pucci sheath and helped everyone read my Sanskrit henna tat much better which reads, “Not all who wander are lost.” I think. Anyway, wandering through Gwen’s shop is exactly what I want to do.
A night of magic which truly solidifies our Memphis brand as being consistent and unique in the exciting design world. We have super ferosh talent right here and it continues to attract other bright stars to our tiny but magnetic universe. Follow these thrilling ladies on Instagram:
