Opera Memphis’ annual wild game dinner with the catchy name of “50 shades of game” was opened with remarks by Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell. Opera Memphis Director Ned Canty then told the sell-out crowd how fitting it is that opera should take its rightful place in Memphis’ world-famous culture of music. In this regard, opera lovers take note that Playhouse on the Square is hosting the 10-day Midtown Opera Festival (April 3 to 13) featuring chamber opera, panel discussions, fringe events, parties, and a world premiere, Ghosts of Crosstown.
