The distinguished Boston-based portrait painter Mary Minifie was the artist-in-residence for this intensive week-long workshop, open to the public and sponsored by The Hutchison Center for Excellence’s Mary Miles Loveless Arts Academy and Fine Arts Department. Hutchison was able to enlist Minifie’s talents due to a friendship between the artist and Hutchison alumna Jeanne Jacobs Sutherland, who had studied with Minifie in Florida. A reception was held for the artist at Sutherland’s East Memphis home. Everyone agreed Minifie must return to our city soon.
