The Southeast Transportation Workforce Center (SETWC) at the University of Memphis is hosting a two-day Choosing Transportation Summit Wednesday, March 18th, and Thursday, March 19th, at the University of Memphis.
The Second Annual Blue Pump Gala, a scholarship fundraising event in support of female students pursuing transportation and logistics degrees, will be held on Wednesday at the University of Memphis Holiday Inn. Attendees are asked to wear blue shoes. As part of Women’s History Month, the Gala events include cocktail networking time, student and professional awards, and more than 200 blue shoes walking around the U of M Holiday Inn. The event’s keynote speaker is Susan L. Kurland, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Assistant Secretary for Aviation and International Affairs.
Time: 5:15 p.m. cocktails; 6 p.m. dinner, keynote speaker, and awards
Gala tickets: $50 or attend both events for $60
Dress: the only rule is to wear blue shoes, from fancy to professional attire
Choosing Transportation: Attracting Women to the Profession, a conference focused on improving efforts to attract, retain, and advance a diverse transportation workforce, will be held Thursday at the FedEx Institute of Technology at the U of M. Attendees can learn about pathways to transportation careers, including high school programs and continuing education options. The conference will include panel discussions and breakout sessions for transportation professionals and high school students.
Time: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
