The Edgy Tomato Festival in the Edge district is the place to be this weekend. I’ve never been so excited about tomatoes. The team behind Edible Memphis has worked with some of the coolest creative minds in the city to create a stacked list of vendors making amazing food as well as art, including a tomato-themed art contest at The Ugly Art Co. No need for tickets!
901 Run Club
Memphis Greenline, 1045 Mullins Station Rd. / Saturday August 22, 7:30am
If you're looking for a high-spirited and empowering start to your weekend, 901 Run Club is hosting a scenic run through the Greenline starting at Mullins Station Road and heading east for a total of 9 miles. It all begins with a warm-up, then a group photo, and you're off to the races! For those of us avoiding Memphis afternoons like the plague, this scheduling is perfect at bright and early 7:30 am. It’ll be 75 degrees and partly cloudy, keeping you cool. No RSVP is needed, and it’s totally free.
Sunday Garden Club
Memphis Botanic Garden / Sunday, August 23, 1-3 pm
Along with this month’s gallery feature by Deanna Mullins, the Botanic Garden hosts a monthly Sunday Garden Club. Gardeners of all experience levels are welcome to observe, ask questions, and meet fellow gardeners to discuss a new topic each visit. To combat the heat, the group will enjoy the shade on the grounds while discussing everything there is to know about identifying trees by their bark, leaves, and branches. Courtesy of drummer Tre Deaton, on Saturday, Analog Fest will be in full swing. Local grown artists like Raneem Imam, M.O.V., and Adubb will perform live original music at Ghost River Brewing Co. There are few better ways to enjoy a summer in Memphis than ice cold beer and great music. Tickets are $5 for the first 100 guests. Tickets here!
FoodieLand Food Festival
940 Early Maxwell Blvd. / Friday-Sunday, August 21-23, 3pm-10pm
FoodieLand is a food festival on tour featuring all the viral goods, from sushi pizza to cereal milk lattes to Parmesan cheese wheel pasta. They’ve made their way to Memphis and came prepared with games and live music. A wide range of food cultures will be represented at Liberty Park, with over 250 vendors present. Get tickets here!
