Pokey LaFarge plays tonight at the Levitt Shell.
Multi-instrumentalist and vivid storyteller Pokey LaFarge brings his country blues to the Levitt Shell this evening. Drawing from a deep well of early jazz, ragtime, western swing, and other American music traditions, LaFarge has earned a reputation as a tireless and uniquely charismatic performer.
You may recognize his music from the HBO show Boardwalk Empire, as LaFarge is on the show’s soundtrack performing the jazz standard “Love Sick Blues” with Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks. 2014 saw LaFarge take his music to five continents, performing in places like India, New Zealand, and Australia. Previously, LaFarge opened up for Jack White on the Blunderbuss tour. LaFarge teamed up with Rounder Records for his seventh studio album, and the result is some of his best work yet. Check out the video for the title track of Something in the Water below and get to the Levitt Shell by 7:30 p.m. tonight.
