Looking for fun outdoor activities for your children or grandchildren this summer? The 10th annual Plant Camp might be just the thing. The camp will be held at Agricenter International (7777 Walnut Grove Road) from 9 a.m. to noon June 15th through June 19th, and kids (ages 8-12) will have the chance to learn about different types of plants and participate in daily hands-on activities.
For the past nine years, Agricenter International, UT Extension Institute of Agriculture, and Memphis Area Master Gardeners have collaborated to present a nonprofit Plant Camp for children. The theme for this year’s Plant Camp is “Green Adventures,” and campers will learn about the role plants play in our lives and explore ways to be more environmentally friendly.
New to Plant Camp this year: Each attending camper will qualify to be officially certified as a Junior Master Gardener upon completion of the week’s activities.
Plant Camp activities will include:
- Daily hands-on projects
- Educational discussions
- Harvesting, planting, and recycling
- Daily outdoor classroom events
- Friday musical performed by campers
- Friday parents program
- And lots more!
Camp is $35 per child and includes all project materials, activities, and a Plant Camp shirt. The event is limited to 30 campers, and the deadline to apply is Friday, June 5th. For more information, check out the camp brochure. To fill out an application, click here.
