A woodcut, "Young Bird with Honeysuckle," by late Memphis artist Ted Faiers
If you are familiar with the history of Memphis art, you'll recognize the name Ted Faiers. Faiers was a prolific Memphis painter and educator whose work varied from psychedelic to expressionist to traditional. Faiers' largest-ever commission, which he undertook in the years before his death in 1985, was a historical tableau for First Tennessee Bank. The massive painting still adorns the bank's interior today.
This year, the Church Health Center has reproduced Faiers' work as a part of its annual holiday fundraiser. A 1963 woodcut by Faiers, entitled "Young Bird with Honeysuckle," decorates the Center's Christmas card, which is available for purchase. The cards commemorate a donation to the Center and can be sent to friends, family, co-workers, or as memorial gifts.
“Our Christmas card program is a great way to support the Center while keeping in touch with those you love,” says Church Health Center CEO Dr. Scott Morris.
More information about the purchase of Faiers' cards is available on the Church Health Center website.
