For seven years, Inside Memphis Business has been recognizing brilliance. Our annual Innovation Awards acknowledge the singular work being done in all quarters around town. Our judges consider who on the list of nominees is doing something above and beyond improving on an existing process or product. They look for an approach that provides more than an incremental advance or a logical next step. They want to find something that solves a problem that nobody else has been able to effectively address, brings benefits to people who are otherwise ignored, fixes a vexing problem, or delivers solutions in a particularly fine way.
The 2019 Innovators met these standards in several categories: healthcare, the arts, business, and community. The array of areas is a tribute to the variety of cutting-edge work being done right here in Memphis.
On September 27, our awards breakfast honored the winners. And as always, thanks to the Fogelman College of Business and Economics at the University of Memphis and Dr. Damon Fleming, dean.
