Two years ago, I wrote about Bill Killebrew, the self-styled “Cap’n” who hosted a variety of children’s TV shows on Memphis stations. At the time, I included a photograph of Bill with his pet chimpanzee Scatter, pretending to drive a car (it was one of Bill’s favorite gags), and another image of Bill drawing a cartoon for a local hospital patient.
I just didn’t have space to include some of the other images from Bill’s long career, but I’d like to include this one, because I’m hoping someone can identify some of the kids in the picture.
Just to make it more of a challenge, I don’t have the date this photo was taken, and I don’t even have the name of the show that he was hosting (and he hosted a LOT of them).
But if any of these little guys are recognizable — perhaps all grown up and working as presidents of banks or serving as captains of industry in town — let me know who they are. And if things went the other way for them after their moment in the spotlight, and perhaps they embarked on a life of crime, well, you might as well tell me about that too.
