In our October issue, I tell the story of the Julius Lewis department store chain. Though most people remember the stunning building erected on Union, the company also opened a nice, but somewhat smaller store downtown, at the corner of Main and Gayoso.
In my column, we ran a photo of that store, but it was in black-and-white. Pretty ho-hum. Since then, I’ve turned up a nice color postcard view of the store, which shows off the distinctive architecture much better.
I especially like the giant sparkling diamond ring that caught the eyes of shoppers and lured them into Gordon’s Jewelers next door. I wonder what happened to that?
